| | My grandmother, Frances Greenbird (Guerrero) was full blood member of this band--she passed away several years ago. My father Francis Myron Guerrero is a carded member. I work for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights and would like to meet with the a tribal leader/member to learn more about my culture. The Department has me representing the Native American portion of our Building Cultural Competency training and I would like to learn as much as I can. Also, am I entitled to become a card carrying member? I have a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Wayne State University. I did receive funds from the Indian Tuition Grant. | | Thank you for this website and for your history - never stop fighting for what is yours. Your history is amazing, and thanks to people like Chief Jacobs and Arthur Ray (author of "I have lived here since the world begain"), Aboriginal people should be placed where they belong:at the centre of our historical story. We have a very knowledgeable professor, Dr.Wright at the University of Windsor who has taught us awareness and the alternative view from traditional history books (written by white people, who of course have a bias). From social, economic, political and military relationships, yours is a story I pass down to my daughter. Thank you! |
