Reducing Your Waste

BATHROOM CLEANERS

Toilet Cleaners:
Toilet brush and baking soda;

OR use a mild detergent with a toilet brush. Scrub with Borax to disinfect.

Sink and Tub:
Sprinkle with baking soda and scrub with a damp sponge or cloth. Baking soda will not scratch!

Disinfectants:
1/2 cup Borax in 1 gallon (4.5 litres) of water.

Ammonia-Based Cleaners:
Use a mixture of vinegar, salt and water for surfaces. For the bathroom, try baking soda and water.

Abrasive Cleaners or Powders:
Rub the area with 1/2 lemon dipped in Borax, rinse and dry.

Tub and Tiles:
Mix 1/2 tsp. washing soda, 1 tsp. Borax, 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. liquid soap, 3 Tbsp vinegar, and 2 cups very hot water in a spray bottle (if bottle clogs, use less Borax).

Faucets and Fixtures:
Mix 1/3 cup vinegar and 2/3 cup water. Polish until clean.

Shower Curtains:
To clean shower curtains wash dirty curtains with a few towels in the washing machine. Add 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse water and tumble dry; OR to remove mildew, dissolve 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of Borax in warm water. Mix up fresh for each use.

Shower Head:
To remove mineral deposits, soak clogged showehead in full strength vinegar.

Mildew:
Can be removed by gently rubbing with an S.O.S. pad.
