We employed four community members to conduct plant assessments on Walpole Island on over 10 different plant species considered "at risk" in Canada by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada. The crew was under the guidance of Dr. Jane Bowles who led and assisted the species at risk assessments; providing training and help develop standardized monitoring programs.
Dr. Bowles and the Habitat Stewardship Crew were kept very busy during the summer locating, counting and recording data for various plant populations, which included: Small White Lady's Slippers, Goldenseal, Kentucky Coffee Tree and Hop Tree. |
